Why study Further Maths?

If you are considering a degree in Mathematics, Physics or Engineering, A-Level Further Mathematics will provide you with the knowledge to tackle more advanced topics, such as hyperbolic functions or matrices, which will come up during your first years at university.

This A-Level qualification is based on the skills, knowledge and understanding set out in the whole GCSE (9-1) Mathematics subject content and the A-Level Mathematics subject content.

If a student has good grades at GCSE Mathematics: Higher or in their equivalent educational system, and a good command of the English language,
they can study for the AQA A-level Further Mathematics over 2 years. The subject content covers a compulsory content of core mathematics and two of the following topics (to be chosen by the student):
1. Mechanics
2. Statistics
3. Discrete Mathematics
